Tea, a huge success

Our morning started a little on the ‘dark side’, cable was stolen that left Durbanville without electricity. Sonja organized a generator and even though we started 40 minutes late, the fundraiser was a huge success.

We raised over R 17 000 and collected enough baby lotion, etc for a few months.

We had 220 ladies attend. Every table was meticulously set. Thank you to every host for your contribution.

We focussed on two babies who lived at Themiso during the coarse of this year. William (Unathi, as we knew him) and Malachi. Our news letter has more information!!!

Baby M was placed with a family who live in Cape Town and this little guy is growing like crazy according to his mommy! He will have facial surgery later in life!

Baby P is living in Norway and is doing great!

Our big Girl S was adopted into a family in our area, and she is very happy!

Sweet J, was moved to a house in Ruiterwacht, and she is doing better every day and adapting to her new ’family’.

Baby E found his second new family, in Kokstad and they are doing great!!!

Baby U, Baby L and Baby S was also placed Nationally.

Our almost walking baby Girl A will be placed during the first week of August and Baby A and Baby H (our Easter baby) will be placed on August 3rd, all three of them internationally.

We currently have 7 babies at Thembiso!

It is an honor to write this email! After his two major operations and being in the hospital for more than a month, Baby M is a happy and fun 7 month old. We've grown very fond of him... This is not all...

Baby M found a forever family and was placed on Saturday! We praise our Lord for hearing our prayers!!! He has two sisters and a brother!

No child should ever be lonely or abandoned!

Thank you for your prayers! Our God is faithful.

Baby M come home on Monday!!! He is doing well, still recovering... Please continue to pray for this little guy and the staff who is looking after him. Thank you for all your prayers!

Baby M - Beautiful

Baby M came out of surgery at 10 yesterday morning. He is so brave. The doctors removed the access skin on his face and he is BEAUTIFUL. He has a perfect nose, and two beautiful brown eyes. I praise our Lord!

Please pray that the infection was cleaned out and that Baby M will recover fast. Thank you for all your prayers!

Baby M - Infection

Dear Friends, please pray for his little baby boy today. Due to the infection he is going in for another operation this morning. The doctors will open him up again and clean the infection. Baby M has been in the hospital for almost two weeks now. He has developed a cold, please pray for healing for this baby boy!

Also continue to pray for Ria and all the workers at Thembiso!!!

After almost a week after the operation Baby M is doing better.

Infection occurred in the last couple of days so the doctors started him on antibiotics. He is currently back on tube feeding. According to Ria his right side (of head/face) is very swollen. Please pray for this little guys. He is a miracle at four months and we trust God for an amazing future, for him!

In your prayers please pray for Ria. She is at his side every moment of the day which is very taxing in a state hospital.

Carla, Petra & I visited Baby M in the hospital yesterday.

Carla: "Baba M is steeds in die hospitaal en dit gaan redelik goed met hom. Gister is verdere toetse gedoen, aangesien hy effens koors ontwikkel het. Ria spandeer elke moontlik oomblik langs sy bed en ons loof haar daarvoor. Mag God aan haar nuwe krag gee om deur hierdie tyd te kom en haar so versterk dat sy fisies en geestelik gesonds sal bly. Bid vir haar en Baba M asseblief."

"Baby M is still in the hospital. He developed a fever yesterday so they are doing more tests. Ria is spending every possible moment with him, we praise her for that. Please pray that God will renew her strength. Please continue to pray for Ria and Baby M."

Baby M (update 17:00)

I just received wonderful news!

Baby M is doing very well. The Surgeon is very pleased with the surgery. They did not do any cosmetic surgery at this time. The doctors were able to open from ear to ear to work on the brain/scull. They will do the cosmetic surgery on his face in a few months . The reason for that is they need to make sure internally everything is working perfectly! His face is swollen but according to Ria, you can look him in the eyes!!!

Please continue to pray for Baby M in this time of recovery.

The surgery started on time this morning at 8am and is scheduled as a six hours operation. Baby M is still in surgery as I am typing. Please continue to pray for this little guy and the doctors.

Pray for the doctors during the extensive operation.
Pray for the Thembiso staff who will be looking after him after the operation (time of recovery).
Pray for this little guys life, that he will be healed completely without any complications.

Thembiso was started in January 2007 out of a desire by both Doxa Deo in Langeberg Ridge and Durbanville Baptist Churches to make a difference in the lives of children with special needs.
The house was founded under the guidance of the uMephi organisation (the Child Welfare arm of the AFM church in South Africa).

“Thembiso” means “PROMISE” in Xhosa, and to the babies in our care it is our PROMISE to share Jesus’ love with them in whatever way we can.
